Highlights include the Opening Night Extravaganza, Cuddle Experience, Cat Café, Yappy Hours, Paint Your Pet, and a ‘Cone of Shame’ Art Gallery

January 25, 2018 – The San Francisco SPCA, in partnership with Embarcadero Center, is once again launching a pop-up during the month of February. This year’s pop-up will be significantly larger than last year’s and will host several special events. Visitors are invited to stop by the space in One Embarcadero Center on weekdays, February 2 – 28, 11 am – 7 pm (closed Presidents’ Day).

The festivities kick off on Thursday, February 1, with a grand opening party from 5 pm – 9 pm in celebration of the Chinese Lunar Year of the Dog (and cats too)! Enjoy beer, wine, and bites while being entertained by artists, acrobats, musicians, and a mentalist. The party is free, but RSVP is required: https://sfspcamorethanaconeparty.eventbrite.com

The Opening Night Extravaganza is hosted by the SF SPCA and More Than a Cone. The organizations are partnering to draw attention to animal adoption, recovery, and wellness with a special Cone of Shame Art Gallery and silent auction featuring original works by Todd Oldham, Richard J. Oliver, Camilla d’Errico, JAW Cooper, CRAWW, and many more, plus Larger Than Life murals by Lauren YS, THE OBANOTH, and members of the SEVENTH LETTER. Watch as noted artist Colt Bowden finishes an SF SPCA 150th Anniversary mural live. If you miss the party, stop by anytime during February to view the art.

In addition to the Opening Night Extravaganza, several fun events and activities have been planned:

YAPPY HOURS

Every Thursday the pop-up will host a Yappy Hour from 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm. Stop by after work for wine and cuddles! Join us on Thursday, February 15, for a special Year of the Dog themed Yappy Hour.

CAT CAFÉ

Grab a cup of coffee and meet some special cats from FieldHaven Feline Center, one of the SF SPCA’s rescue partners. Open weekdays 11 am – 7 pm.

CUDDLE EXPERIENCE

Snuggle up with adorable puppies! A $10 donation will get you 10 minutes of cuddle time. Signups are first to come, first served whenever the Pop-Up is open. Interested in a private Cuddle Experience? Visit sfspca.org/popup

PAINT YOUR VALENTINE

Enjoy bubbly and bites while painting an 11 x 14 canvas of your pet! February 13, 5pm – 7pm. Tickets required: paintthetown.us/payments/paint-your-valentine

Boston Properties, owners of Embarcadero Center, is thrilled to be working with the SF SPCA whose vision is to end animal abandonment. “The SF SPCA is a wonderful organization that contributes to the overall well-being of our community” commented Steve Colvin, Senior Vice President, Boston Properties. “We are proud to host the Pop-Up Adoption Center at Embarcadero Center. Our high traffic location is ideal for reaching people who want to adopt an animal and provide them with a loving home.”

“Last year’s inaugural pop-up was a huge success,” said Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, SF SPCA President. “We’re grateful that Boston Properties has given us the opportunity to significantly expand this year. We hope this year’s pop-up helps even more rescue animals find the loving homes they deserve.”

If you can’t make it to the pop-up, watch all of the fun on the SF SPCA’s live stream broadcasts: sfspca.org/popup

The SF SPCA won’t be completing adoptions at the pop-up, but visitors can place a hold on an animal for $50 and then visit the Mission Campus Adoption Center to complete the adoption.
