Thomas is the little engine that could. This cute and timid boy is progressing each day with his confidence. He still needs gentle encouragements on walks and when meeting new people with his current hesitations. He responds very well to soft happy talk and calm interactions. He will do best in a quiet home and with caring and patient adopters. Come meet this sweet pea!
I’m a sweet pup who is figuring out what my comfort level is. I will need time and patience from my new family as I get used to being in a home. While I enjoy gentle affection from people I trust, I appreciate a slow introduction to new folks. Playtime, training, puppy socials, and tender love from you will help me figure out the big, wide world. I’m looking for adopters who will commit to continuing my puppy education and socialization. I can’t wait to meet you!

Molly is a pint-sized princess. Molly is thought to be a 12 year old Chihuahua mix from Fresno Humane Society. In the beginning, she was very fearful of reaching hands, especially if those hands held leashes. We helped combat this fear by inviting her over to us instead of coming in and invading her space. Molly is still discovering for herself that humans are not here to harm her, but rather take care of her and provide her well-deserved TLC. We’ve seen for ourselves what great progress she’s made, though, as she’s been comfortable enough to climb into the laps of some folks! (Sans petting for now.) Molly looks forward to her future forever family that will be patient and empathetic with her delicate spirit. She will flourish in a kingdom where she can reign supreme, and her loyal human subjects cater to her every need.
**Special offer for a special dog! Molly has been at the shelter for several months and it’s time to find their forever home. Do you think Molly might be your one and only, but need to make sure it’s a good fit first? You can foster Molly to find out! If you’d like to do a week-long foster trial period with Molly, with the end goal of adopting them, please come check them out!

Cosmo is a cosmically cool canine. He is such a joy to be around. He does best when you let him come to you and initiate some nice play with his favorite toys. He prefers not to be picked up most times but he loves to come over to you for some cute cuddles and affection, especially after playtime. He has also done well in our small dog playgroups! Cosmo will do best with a caring adopter who will listen to his behavior cues and be there to give him affection and playtime.
To expedite the adoption process, please complete the cat or dog adoption form and bring a printed copy with you to the SF SPCA Adoption Center (Hours & Location). This helps us better understand what sort of pet you’re looking for so we can guide you every step of the way! Please bring a valid photo ID and verification that you are allowed to have a pet where you currently live.
First, we’ll meet with you to find out more about you and your pet preferences and answer your questions. Our goal is to help you find the pet that best fits your lifestyle and living situation so we want to make sure you have a realistic understanding of the time and resources necessary to provide training, medical treatment, and proper care for your new pet. This can take time so please allow at least one hour for the adoption process.
Once we have a good understanding of your living situation and the type of pet you’re interested in, we’ll make introductions and let you spend some quality time getting to know each other to see if there’s a love connection. It’s important that all household members take part in this important decision so please make sure everyone is present (including any resident dogs if you’re considering adding a new pooch to your pack).
Once love happens, we’ll complete the paperwork, review all the SF SPCA adoption benefits, provide information on any known medical or behavioral issues, and share tips to make the transition a success for both you and your new pet.
We consider you and your new furry friend a part of the SF SPCA family so please reach out with questions ― and be sure to share your adoption stories and pet photos at sfspca.org/stories
Don’t forget to schedule your first free health exam at the SF SPCA Veterinary Hospital within three days of adopting.
