SF SPCA Alumni Profile: Klaus

When Klaus arrived at our shelter, he was underweight, shut down, and diagnosed with a skin infection that covered his body. This boy needed a lot of TLC. Although he was quite shy, it was clear that there was a fun-loving, silly pup just waiting to come out of his shell.

With the help of our Shelter Medicine team, 3-year-old Klaus started gaining weight and his skin infection began clearing up. While he was with us, Klaus received encouragement and support from staff, went on numerous field trips, and was even a house guest for a few volunteers. Every visit and foster stay was a chance for Klaus to express his personality while enjoying love and affection from caring people.

Little by little, Klaus was beginning to look and feel better…and his foster family was falling in love.

After 38 days of loving care from dozens of staff and volunteers, Klaus was adopted by his foster family!

“Klaus is very gentle. He’s sweet with other dogs, children, people, and pretty much everyone. My husband immediately fell in love, and the feeling is mutual,” said foster mom Karen.

Congrats to Klaus and his new family!
