Happy Tails: Petal

Petal is a sweet two-year-old cat who was surrendered to one of our partner shelters after being attacked by dogs. Fortunately, our Shelter Medicine team was able to start helping Petal before she ever arrived at our shelter. They assessed Petal’s condition virtually, with the help of radiographs from a local veterinarian, and determined that Petal was favoring her right leg and had pockets of air under her skin (subcutaneous emphysema).  

Telemedicine allowed the San Francisco SPCA team to determine firsthand that we could provide additional assistance with her recovery, and thanks to these virtual consultations Petal’s transfer to our facility was expedited.

Petal’s medical care plan was already established when she arrived, and she was well on the road to recovery. She only had a short stay with our Shelter Medicine Team before finding her forever home!
