When we first met Leopold, he was in dire condition. He suffered from a serious injury to his right eye, caused by a bite wound. The eye was infected and needed to be removed before the infection spread. We knew we had to move quickly, so our Shelter Medicine team jumped to his aid and began working their magic.
Leopold needed several surgeries, one to remove the infected eye and repeated procedures to clean the area. Although he had to make several trips to the surgery suite, Leopold remained in good spirits the entire time and quickly made many friends among our staff!
With each procedure, Leopold was looking and feeling much better. He needed a couple weeks of rest and recovery, plus a lot of love and support, but soon Leopold’s injury was completely healed. He was finally happy, healthy, and ready to graduate to the Adoption floor.
Given Leopold’s sweet personality, it was no surprise that he found his forever home just a few days later. We couldn’t be happier for Leopold and his new family!
