A Loving Tribute to a Very Special Friend of the SF SPCA: Caroline Read

The SF SPCA family recently lost a very special friend. Caroline Read was the embodiment of kindness and compassion and she showered her family, friends and animals with her warmth and generosity. Caroline was never without a dog in her arms, and so it is fitting that when you walk around our Mission Campus, you will see Caroline’s name on our beautiful Adoption Center building and adjoining outdoor dog park, two critically important structures that exist thanks to Peter Read’s, Caroline’s beloved son and longtime SF SPCA board member, desire to recognize Caroline’s lifelong devotion to animals and to inspire the next generation to create legacies for our four-legged friends.

Although Caroline is no longer with us, her memory and words will live on in our hearts: “I’m so happy that more pets will get their second chance here. I couldn’t think of a better gift for me or legacy for our family.”
