The SF SPCA provides a free first wellness exam for new adopters who adopt from the SF SPCA Adoption Center or one of our Bay Area rescue partners. Find out more about new adopter assistance on the Adoption Process page.
To provide compassionate care to as many cats and dogs as we can, the San Francisco SPCA has a financial assistance program available to all eligible guardians.
To qualify for financial assistance, you must:
- Provide proof of San Francisco residency
- Any current form of ID with address (If not current address, must also include utility/cable bill)
- Homeless verification letter
- Provide proof of income
- SSI/SSDI
- Bank Statement
- Homeless verification letter
- Pay Stub
- Financial aid from school/loans
- Child support
- GA
- Food stamps
- Be able to pay for the exam fee at the time of service
- General Appointment: $90
- Same-Day Urgent Care: $131
- Walk-in Emergency Exam: $175
- Pet in care must be spay/neutered
- Have applied for and exhausted CareCredit
Please note: The SF SPCA no longer offers payment plans as a type of Financial Assistance. Payment is due at time of service for all visit types.

CareCredit
- CareCredit can be used to pay for any products or services at our hospital.
- CareCredit is often the best option for expensive treatments, including dental work, as we offer several extended financing plans through CareCredit.
