An all-volunteer group founded by Jill Kramer in 1987, Critter Lovers At Work (CLAW) promotes public awareness of and community support for the San Francisco SPCA. CLAW plans and produces special events that benefit the SF SPCA’s Cinderella Fund. CLAW has donated more than $1.3M to the fund.
CLAW’s first events were the Holiday Windows at Gump’s in 1987 and The Great SF SPCA Cat and Dog Fair the same year. Through a diverse selection of activities and venues, these events attracted broad community participation and educated the public on the important roles pets play in our lives.
This tradition has continued with events such as the Bare Bones Bash, Animal Wing Ding, Hats Off Luncheon and our signature event, the Bark & Whine Ball. (Bark & Whine Ball 2014 Information)

The Cinderella Fund
The SF SPCA’s Cinderella Fund transforms the lives of the neediest animals that arrive at the shelter—those who are not only homeless but also sick or injured. Thanks to the Cinderella Fund hundreds of animals each year receive an extra measure of care and treatment from our skilled veterinarian staff. Once restored to health, socialized and properly groomed, these “Cinderella” animals can be placed in loving homes.
