Husky Happy Tails That Will Warm Your Heart

Huskies and Northern Breeds are some of the most breathtaking, spirited, and loving dogs you’ll ever meet. To show you just how incredible these dogs are, we’re sharing a few of our favorite success stories: pups who came through the doors of the San Francisco SPCA Adoption Center, stole the hearts of everyone they met, and found loving homes.

Warner: the comeback kid

Warner had a rough start to his second chapter. He arrived seriously ill and infected with leptospirosis (commonly known as lepto), a bacterial infection that took a heavy toll on his liver and kidneys. His normally striking ice-blue husky eyes had turned a deep yellow from jaundice, a symptom of lepto.

With weeks of antibiotics, round-the-clock supportive care from our team, and a devoted foster family, this resilient boy turned things around. He cleared the infection and his organs slowly began to recover. During his recovery, he never lost his spark, and our staff and volunteers fell hard for his curious, affectionate, easy-going personality. Named after 49ers linebacker Fred Warner, this pup plays with the same heart as his namesake. Warner is living proof that with the right care and the right people, a Husky can overcome the toughest challenges.

Rocky: cannonball!

You might know Rocky by his shelter name: Bill. This Husky mix came to us from San Francisco Animal Care and Control and wasted no time making an impression on his new family.

On his very first day in his new home, Rocky fell straight into his family’s swimming pool and promptly started doing laps. His adopters were in stitches. “He really is a character with a big personality,” they shared with us. “Everyone loves him so much.”

Rocky has since found his groove living with his big brother (another SF SPCA alumnus who was adopted nearly a decade ago), and the two are inseparable.

Aurora: the princess has arrived

Aurora came to us from Fresno Animal Center. From the moment she walked in, she carried herself like royalty. Although she was learning the ropes of city life, she was a natural at charming the people around her.

It didn’t take long for her to find a family, who recently shared an exciting update: “We love Aurora and—cross your fingers—it looks like she’s pretty much house-broken now. Yay!”

Now that’s a royal decree we can celebrate. Aurora currently reigns over her forever home, and her loyal subjects couldn’t be happier.

Wesley: three legs, zero slowdowns

Wesley’s story could have gone much differently. Between 2022 and 2023, he was adopted and returned to us five times. Now, Wesley is living his best life with his mom, who says simply, “He is the best boy.”

And she’s right. Wesley lights up the room with his gorgeous coat and soulful eyes. After becoming a tripawd, this resilient pup handled it like a champion and made a full recovery. He strolls through the neighborhood like a gentleman, and the moment he hits the off-leash park? Pure zoomies. Staff and volunteers always noted his sweet, gentle, lively spirit—and now one very lucky person gets to experience that every single day.
