Ryland is a beautiful young tortie who has already been through more than any kitten should. At an age when her biggest concern should have been chasing toys and finding the perfect sunny spot, Ryland was hit by a car and suffered fractures to her pelvis. Thankfully, this brave little girl has come a very long way. She is comfortable, using her hind legs appropriately and able to sit, stand and move around on her own. She still needs a little more time to fully heal, but she is making wonderful progress.

Ryland is also an exceptionally shy girl who needs time to decide that new people are safe. She isn’t the kitten who is going to rush forward and immediately sell herself to an adopter, and that’s okay. Because the shelter environment was especially overwhelming for her, Ryland is currently staying in a foster home where she can continue healing and building confidence at her own pace.

After such a frightening start to life, Ryland deserves the chance to discover that the world can also be gentle. She needs someone who can look beyond a shy first impression and imagine the cat she can become with patience, security and love. Earning the trust of a cat like Ryland may happen in tiny steps, but every one of those steps will mean something.
