Meet Jersey, a beautiful first-time mama who took her role seriously and gave her six kittens exactly what they needed: protection, care and a devoted mother watching over them. Jersey has done her job beautifully, and now she is ready for a different kind of placement, one that truly fits who she is.

Jersey is not a cat who shows well in the shelter, and traditional indoor-only pet life may not be the right fit for her. She was an outdoor cat who was not closely socialized with people, so we do not yet know how she will adjust to life with humans in a home environment. What we do know is that she deserves a safe, appropriate place where she can have space, choice and the opportunity to settle in on her own terms.

Jersey is looking for a working-cat style home where she can have a job, safe outdoor access and a secure home base. She may not be the cat who curls up in your lap or greets every guest at the door, but she has plenty to offer in her own way. Think barn, garden, workshop, warehouse or another appropriate setting where she can patrol, supervise and live life at a pace that feels comfortable for her.

Because Jersey needs a calm, predictable environment and is not comfortable with close handling, she must go to a home with no children. She also requires access to the outdoors due to her history as an outdoor cat who was not socialized to people.

Jersey has already proven she is hardworking, resilient and deeply capable. Now she deserves a placement that respects her nature, gives her purpose and allows her the time and space to become whatever version of herself she is ready to be.
