FeLV affects a cat’s immune system and will shorten his lifespan, but it does not define Lucky or prevent him from enjoying a happy, loving life. Many FeLV-positive cats enjoy wonderful years filled with playtime, cozy naps and the companionship of people who adore them.

Because FeLV can be transmitted to other cats through close contact, Lucky’s adopter should speak with a veterinarian about the safest household arrangement. He should live indoors, receive veterinary wellness care every 6 to 12 months and be seen promptly if he becomes sick or injured. FeLV affects cats only and cannot be transmitted to people or dogs.
