SAN FRANCISCO (July 17, 2026) — Following successful pilot clinics in San Francisco’s Bayview neighborhood, the San Francisco SPCA is formally expanding its mobile veterinary clinic through a partnership with the Southeast Family Health Center. Once a quarter, the program will provide no-cost vaccines and preventive care for dogs in the Bayview through community partner Southeast Family Health Center. This expansion addresses the ongoing demand for preventive care while increasing access to veterinary services in San Francisco. It builds on successful clinics and community partnerships in Hunters Point and the Tenderloin.
The SF SPCA kicks off its first clinic of the fiscal year on Saturday, July 18. The Mobile Vaccine Clinic series will rotate through Bayview, Hunters Point, and the Tenderloin, operating a clinic on the third Saturday of each month. Services include distemper-parvo vaccines and referrals to the SF SPCA’s broader system of care, including its fixed-cost Community Veterinary Clinic in the Excelsior and low- or no-cost spay/neuter procedures. Priority will be given to puppies under one year, unvaccinated dogs, and those at highest risk for preventable diseases such as parvovirus, ensuring early intervention for those who need it most.
“Access to veterinary care starts with trust. Our community partners help us understand and respond to the needs of the neighborhoods they serve, allowing us to bring preventive care closer to families and connect them with ongoing support for their pets,” said Jessica Bogosian, RVT, Senior Director of Community Medicine Operations, San Francisco SPCA.
The expansion is supported in part by Leesa Miao and Martin Romo, which builds on 15 years of community clinic work. In the first half of 2026, the SF SPCA connected nearly 2,800 families with low- or no-cost spay/neuter services. At a January clinic at Southeast Family Health Center, 99 families brought 221 animals for care, and over 95 registered for ongoing veterinary services. These results show the need and impact of providing services directly within communities, highlighting the demand for the expansion of the program.
Appointments are available through the SF SPCA’s online booking system, which opens the Wednesday prior to each clinic. Pet guardians who need assistance scheduling, do not have an email address, or have limited internet access can call or text (415) 554-3084.
