Dogs from South Korean Dog Meat Farm Now Safe in California

Humane Society International rescued dogs and shut down farm; partners with Northern California shelters to find dogs loving homes

Fifty seven dogs and puppies have been rescued from a dog meat farm by Humane Society International and Change for Animals Foundation in South Korea. The dogs are now on their way to new lives in Northern California. The dogs range from beagles, poodles, and Korean Jindos to large Tosas and have spent their entire lives in small, filthy, crowded cages exposed to all weathers on the farm, waiting to be killed for their meat.

San Francisco SPCA Animals Benefit from Maddie's Fund Treatable Assistance Program

Today the San Francisco SPCA announced that 710 homeless animals had received assistance last year thanks to the Maddie's Fund Treatable Assistance Program (TAP). The TAP is a pilot program that helps northern California shelters find homes for senior animals, or those with treatable medical conditions, who were transferred from animal control shelters. The TAP provides a stipend when those animals are adopted, and in 2014 the SF SPCA received $525,000.

January 22, 2015 - The San Francisco SPCA invites you to the Fourth Annual Be Mine Cocktail Party and Adopt-a-thon. The weekend kicks off with cocktails 5pm - 9pm on Friday, February 6th, at the SF SPCA's Mission Campus (201 Alabama Street). Enjoy a hosted cocktail bar and delicious vegan and vegetarian bites while meeting all of SF SPCA’s adoptable animals. Adoption fees will be waived this evening and throughout the weekend!
