DESCRIPTION:Join Us for the 4th Annual Animal Advocacy Day\nAnimal Advocacy Day brings together passionate advocates\, state lawmakers\, and animal welfare leaders from across California for a powerful day of action at the State Capitol. Together\, we raise awareness about legislative efforts to address our state’s most urgent challenges to pet owners and shelters\, including access-to-care barriers and the ongoing veterinary shortage. \nThanks to your support during the 2025 legislative season\, the following bills go into effect on January 1\, 2026: \n\nAB 516: Clarifies which tasks RVTs and veterinary assistants may perform\, reducing regulatory confusion and better utilizing their skills so teams can serve more animals.\nSB 602: Allows RVTs to provide wellness appointments (vaccines\, parasite prevention) without a veterinarian being onsite\, expanding access to preventive care—especially for pet owners in underserved communities.\n\nThese wins for animals were made possible because of advocates like you. \nFor more information and to RSVP\, click here.\nTuesday\, March 3\, 2026\nTime: 9am–4pm\nWhere: Sacramento\, CA \nQuestions? SUMMARY:Animal Advocacy Day
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the 2nd Annual Animal Advocacy Day\, which brings together animal advocates from across the state for a day of action at the California State Capitol. Last year’s event brought state lawmakers\, animal welfare leaders\, and other advocates together. The event raised awareness about legislative efforts to help address critical access-to-care issues and veterinary shortages in California. \nThe impact of Animal Advocacy Day became evident as AB 1399\, which allows for the use of veterinary telemedicine\, and SB 669\, which expands access to wellness care by\, for example\, allowing Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) to administer vital vaccines at vaccine clinics when the veterinarian is off-site. Both bills were successfully enacted into law and Advocacy Day last year helped to build momentum and awareness of access-to-care legislation as well as other animal welfare needs. \nWe hope you will join us on this special day to improve animal welfare in our state.
