More lives were saved at Stockton Animal Services in 2015 than ever before!

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF., January 20, 2016 - Last year was the best yet for the San Francisco SPCA’s Sister Shelter, Stockton Animal Shelter (SAS). Adoption numbers were higher than ever before, major improvements were made to the shelter itself, and SAS’ services continued to grow and expand. In November 2012, the SF SPCA began offering assistance to SAS with the intention of improving shelter conditions and saving as many lives as possible.

Socializing a Feral Kitten with TLC

There are no words to express the wondrous feelings when we saw CASHMERE VENUS, a 3 month old feral, for adoption in July 2011 at the San Francisco SPCA. She was exactly what we wanted, a mixed Tuxedo Maine Coon, independent, frolicking and beautiful in her SF SPCA condominium. We were just about to go north to adopt our new kitty, but decided to turn west and drove across the Bay Bridge, knowing our good fortune might be granted with certainty.

2014 was quite the difficult year. In a six-month period, I lost my beloved aunt to cancer, my 92 year-old grandfather whom was like a father-figure to me and my two 19 year-old cats, Senor and Lady, passed away within two months of each other. Needing a break from life, I decided to take my first European trip to London, Paris and Dublin.

Upon my return from my two-week life-renewing trip (July ‘14), I found my apartment to be so lonely without any furry friends. Knowing it was too soon to adopt again, I just couldn’t justify an empty house...

Humane Society International rescued dogs and shut down farm; partners with Northern California shelters to find dogs loving homes

Fifty seven dogs and puppies have been rescued from a dog meat farm by Humane Society International and Change for Animals Foundation in South Korea. The dogs are now on their way to new lives in Northern California. The dogs range from beagles, poodles, and Korean Jindos to large Tosas and have spent their entire lives in small, filthy, crowded cages exposed to all weathers on the farm, waiting to be killed for their meat.

The weekend kicks off with cocktails 5pm - 9pm on Friday, February 6th, at the SF SPCA's Mission Campus (201 Alabama Street). Enjoy a hosted cocktail bar and delicious vegan and vegetarian bites while meeting all of SF SPCA’s adoptable animals. Adoption fees will be waived this evening and throughout the weekend!
