Vehicle Donation FAQ
What kind of vehicles can I donate?
Insurance Auto Auctions accepts most vehicles and vessels, including cars, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, boats and RVs.
My car hasn't run in years. Can I still donate it?
Yes, the program accepts most vehicles, running or not. Exceptions include some older vehicles whose value would not offset the cost of towing.
What papers do I need to donate my vehicle?
We would like the title to the vehicle. If you do not have it, please call Insurance Auto Auctions. It may be possible to make other arrangements.
Can you pick up vehicles in all 50 states?
Yes, Insurance Auto Auctions picks up accepted vehicles in the continental U.S. and Hawaii.
How will my car be picked up?
Insurance Auto Auctions will have your vehicle towed away by a licensed, bonded and insured towing company.
How long will it take to pick up my car?
Insurance Auto Auctions now offers free, next-day pick-up for calls or online forms received by 2pm Pacific time.
Do I have to be present when the car is released?
No, but it is recommended so that any problems can be resolved without rescheduling an appointment. Please let Insurance Auto Auctions know in advance if you cannot be present.

Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, but tax situations vary so please check with a tax professional to see what tax benefit you may receive.
How does my tax deduction work?
The IRS allows you to claim a tax deduction of either the value of your vehicle up to $500 or, if the program sells the vehicle for more than $500, we will mail you a completed IRS form 1098-C with the sale value for tax purposes.
