Maddie's® Treatable Assistance Program
Maddie's® Treatable Assistance Program is a new pilot program for adoption guarantee organizations in Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco Counties to support the adoptions of senior and/or medically treatable homeless dogs and cats originating from animal control shelters in those counties.
Maddie's® Treatable Assistance Program provides adoption stipends of $700 per adoption of medically treatable or senior dogs and cats transferred from animal control shelters in Alameda, Contra Costa or San Francisco County and $1,400 per adoption of medically treatable and senior dogs and cats transferred from animal control shelters in Alameda, Contra Costa or San Francisco County. The program began in October 2012 and will run through December 31, 2014.
Maddie's Fund is piloting the subsidy program to give local shelters and rescues the means to find more homes for vulnerable shelter pets, strengthen the relationship between animal control shelters and adoption guarantee groups, and shift some of the burden of responsibility for these pets away from cast-strapped government agencies.
Maddie's Pet Adoption Days
- Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days started in the San Francisco Bay Area in 2010, where Maddie’s Fund® is headquartered.
- To date, Maddie’s Fund has awarded $11.4 million to the participating groups which have adopted a total of 15,154 dogs and cats during the past four events.
- The money given by Maddie’s Fund has enabled shelters to treat and rehabilitate senior pets and those with minor medical conditions – animals who would have probably been euthanized otherwise.
- Maddie’s® Pet Adoption Days is a collaborative effort of countless people who want to save the lives of shelter animals; a testament to what can be done when people come together and rally for a common cause.
