The San Francisco SPCA proudly presents the third annual Whole Enchihuahua event in Dolores Park on Saturday, May 18, 2013, from noon to 3 p.m. The highlight of the event will be a contest, starting at 2 p.m., to crown the cutest dog in San Francisco (all breeds are welcome). Costumes are highly encouraged!
"We're hosting this event to raise awareness about Chihuahuas," said Dr. Jennifer Scarlett, SF SPCA co-president. "Chihuahua mixes represent a disproportionately large and growing percentage of dogs in Bay Area shelters. The Whole Enchihuahua aims to educate the public about Chihuahua overpopulation, while giving San Franciscans an excuse to spend a fun day in the park amongst adorable dogs!"
Registration for the contest takes place from noon to 1 p.m. The first, second, and third place winners will receive fabulous prizes from 7x7, the SF SPCA, Wag Hotels, K-9 Scrub Club, Happy Hounds Massage, Mijo & Bambi, and more.
Other event highlights include food trucks, live mariachi music, an exciting dog rally training course, free dental checks for dogs, PuppyFlix, DogTime Media, Ask-A-Trainer, Ask-A-Vet, City Dog Share, and adoptable animals from both the SF SPCA and its rescue partners.
The SF SPCA is also offering Chihuahua-related promotions through May 31, 2013. All Chihuahua mixes can receive free spay/neuter surgeries at the SF SPCA's Spay/Neuter Clinic. San Francisco residency is not required, and details are available at sfspca.org/fix. In addition, SF SPCA adoption fees will be waived for all Chihuahua mixes.
