Dr. Mason is a 1988 graduate of the University of California – Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, he completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at Friendship Hospital for Animals in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Mason joined Pets Unlimited (now the SF SPCA) in 1991 and was promoted to Medical Director in 1994. His special interests include internal medicine, with a focus on endocrinology, gastroenterology, and critical care. His diagnostic specialties include endoscopy and abdominal ultrasound. In addition to his work in our hospital, Dr. Mason is the acting Shelter Veterinarian and coordinates all the medical care for the animals in our Pacific Heights Adoption Center.
He recently relocated to SOMA after 15 years in Noe Valley. He shares his life with his partner James and Fanny, a boisterous French Bulldog. Fanny was adopted from Pets Unlimited after she was saved from a life-threatening case of Parvovirus.
