An Ohio native, Dr. Betsy Goldenberg headed west to the University of Colorado at Boulder and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biology in 1998. She returned to Ohio for veterinary school and graduated from Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2004. With an initial interest in zoo and aquarium medicine, Betsy lived in various locations across the country to work with everything from elephants to tigers to penguins and more. However, she ultimately discovered that cats and dogs are her favorite patients of all!
Betsy has been working in the Bay Area as a small animal veterinarian since 2005 and joined the SPCA in January 2013. She feels extremely lucky and proud to be part of the SPCA organization and the amazing programs it provides to the community. You will find her most often working in the veterinary hospital but she also loves helping out at the community vaccine clinics and Spay/Neuter clinic. Her professional interests include internal medicine with a special focus on geriatrics, pain management and surgery. When not working, you can find Betsy out hiking or running with her husband and dog, Zanzibar, cooking and if really lucky, traveling abroad.
