Hermione is a four-and-a-half-year-old pup: she’s a sleek 40lbs mixed breed (with a black coat, alert upright ears, pretty brown eyes, and tan boots. She’s in excellent health, and up to date on all of her shots. Hermione is enthusiastic, loving, and energetic. She loves to run around outside, and her mission in life is to keep us safe from squirrels (which she will happily chase, but rarely barks at). In the afternoon she’s a bundle of energy, wanting to play and romp around, and by the end of the day, she loves nothing more than laying in her bed and relaxing near her family and is content to do so for hours. Hermione is smart, highly trainable, and has already had a lot of quality training. She is very respectful of boundaries when clearly set by her owners (e.g., what rooms she is allowed in and what rooms she is not). Hermione has never chewed on the furniture, or on any of our possessions. However, it’s important to understand that Hermione can be reactive around other dogs, especially while on leash. This has been much better since Happy Hound’s training but has never quite dissipated, and she will occasionally have barking fits and pull at other dogs when on leash. She’s got a pretty loud bark, so it can be startling. This means that it’s important to be attentive while walking her. We try to keep her on the opposite side of the sidewalk from other dogs, and on narrow sidewalks sometimes crossing the street to avoid coming nose-to-nose with other pups, and that mostly avoids issues. But she will still occasionally bark and pull from time to time, despite our best efforts.
We feel Hermione would do very well in a home with outdoor space for her to run around in, or with someone with an active lifestyle that would be interested in taking her on regular hikes or runs.
