We adopted Sophie on Valentine's Day 2014 when she was not quite four months old. In a couple of days she will be turning two! Rupert

We adopted Rupert 15 years ago, and just recently we had to say goodbye to this kind soul. He was such a sweet, gentle dog always following us around the house and never straying too far on our walks. He loved to play with other dogs at Dolores Park and chase squirrels at Buena Vista Park. Zinfandel and Orion

We adopted Zinfandel (formerly Santa Maria) from the SF SPCA July 2015. She was a momma of four kittens found on the streets of San Francisco. She is the sweetest, most loving little girl who loves to play and carry her mice around. When she lost her brother, we knew she was sad and had to find her a buddy ASAP. My then boyfriend and I adopted Rosie (formerly known as Boscolita) in August of 2010 from the SF SPCA. We knew she was destined to be ours as she made air biscuits for us and came when called. Rosie flourished in our tiny one bedroom apartment in the city and is now loving life in our much larger home. She has taught us so much about the unconditional love you can get from a shelter pet and continues to be a source of much joy in our house. Zoe (formerly Etouffee)

I was visiting the SF SPCA to help my mom find a dog companion. We went into one of the rooms to see a litter of puppies: four black males and one white female with black ears. I knelt down to meet them, and the girl climbed up onto my lap—like she'd done it a hundred times before—to watch her brothers tussle on the floor below. She then chewed a hole in the hem of my shirt. It wasn't a good time in my life for a dog, but I couldn't leave without her, and we have been inseparable ever since. Aífe

I will always be extremely grateful to the SF SPCA for bringing my best friend to me! I adopted Aífe from the SF SPCA Holiday Windows on New Years Day, 2011. She was almost four months old, and I was 25. I'd moved to the city just before Thanksgiving, right after grad school and a really horrible breakup. As soon as I met Aífe, I knew she was the cat for me. That New Years Day was really the start of a new life for me. My bond with Aífe changed me completely. Felix

When I first started volunteering at the SF SPCA, I was a dog walker. On one of my days volunteering, there were few dogs that I had to choose from. One of those dogs was Felix. By the end of the day we fell in love with him. I knew my cat liked dogs but wasn’t sure if Felix liked cats. When I brought him home he was fine with my cat, Goldie. That was 10 years ago. Felix is now 14 years old. He’s still sweet after all these years.
