Brandy Kuentzel is Senior Vice President and General Counsel at the San Francisco SPCA. Since joining the SF SPCA in 2012, Brandy has advanced numerous animal protection laws in California, among them prohibiting the use of gas chambers to kill dogs and cats and empowering judges to award pet custody in divorce based on what is best for the animal. She has also been a key player in countless community-based reforms for shelter animals, including successfully securing millions of dollars in increased government funding for animal shelters and enacting ordinances that support welfare-centric sheltering practices. Brandy has championed many of the SF SPCA’s most innovative advocacy campaigns, notably a shelter-to-shelter resource lending partnership that resulted in over 40,000 animal lives saved in California’s Central Valley and, most recently, Shelter Policy and Legal Services.
Prior to joining the SF SPCA, Brandy worked as a corporate attorney at two prestigious firms, successfully ran and sold a small business in San Francisco, and emerged as winner of the tenth season of NBC’s reality competition television series “The Apprentice”.
Brandy earned a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
