Summer Animal Camps 2010

Calling All Kids - Come to the SFSPCA’s Summer of Animal Love!

This summer, the San Francisco SPCA offers a whole line-up of Summer Animal Camps for kids interested in learning more about animals and the animal welfare community. Our camps promote kindness and compassion for all creatures. Curricula combine enriching activities and experiential learning to foster children’s love and understanding of animals.

Oh, and did we mention cuddles with kitties and puppies? What better way to spend the summer than making new friends, learning together, playing outrageous games, and hanging out with amazing animals who need your help? Kids aren’t the only one who will have fun . . . our shelter animals receive tons of attention and TLC.

The SFSPCA is happy to offer this opportunity to mature, respectful young people. We are looking for campers who want to build on their love for furry friends by learning how to provide a lifetime of love and care for animals.

All Animal Camp Sessions combine:

  • Animal care and behavior learning activities, team projects, and craft activities
  • Hands-on interactions with animals including cats, kittens, dogs, guinea pigs, rats, chickens, and more
  • Discussions with animal experts and professionals from several animal welfare agencies

There are two unique Animal Camps available: Animal Friends Camp and Animal Heroes Camp. Both utilize experiential and service learning to teach kids how to train and care for animals, be responsible guardians, and how to make our community a safer place for all animals.

Animal Friends Camp

This camp is recommended for new and returning Summer Animal Camp students. Animal Friends Camp celebrates our relationship with animals, with a focus on how we can make animals feel safe and comfortable. Students have hands-on learning opportunities and will work with homeless animals, baby animals, and animals in our community.

Animal Heroes Camp

This camp is for previous SFSPCA Summer Animal Campers who wish to build on their training skills and increase their knowledge of animal welfare.
