Claw Clipping Clinics

We offer a Cat Claw Clipping Clinic for guardians who need regular assistance keeping kitty’s claws clipped. (Try saying that three times fast!) Clinics are held on the first and third Sundays of each month from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Note: The Cat Claw Clipping Clinic will not be open on Sunday, April 20 (Easter Sunday). Please join us on Sunday, May 4 at our usual time.

Clinics are conducted at the SF SPCA Spay Neuter Clinic located in the Leanne B. Roberts Animal Care Center, 201 Alabama St. Free parking available.

No appointment is necessary. Cats must be confined in carriers. If your cat is reasonably comfortable with claw clipping, please bring your cat from 10 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. If your cat tends to be anxious when claws are being clipped, please bring your cat at 10:45 a.m. Please note: we cannot accommodate cats that swat, scratch or bite when having their claws clipped.

The cost is $20.00 (flat rate – all claws!)

New Cat 101

New Cat 101 is an informative presentation for people with cats, new adopters, or anyone interested in adopting a cat. Led by a San Francisco SPCA cat behavior specialist, this class will help you understand your cat’s nature, needs, and behaviors, and will offer strategies for building and maintaining a positive relationship with your feline friend.

Topics covered will include helping your new cat adjust to your home, preventing and correcting litterbox problems, scratching and claw care, play and exercise, and more. A question and answer session and take-home reading will also be provided.

No pre-registration is needed. Interested students may simply show up for class as we will have plenty of space available. Class location is 243 Alabama Street, and street parking is available. Please note this class is for guardians only – no cats, please.
