You may attend this class with our without your dog, see below for details. Note that this class is not a behavior modification program for specific fear issues.
Shy/fearful dogs often can’t enjoy common dog activities in the city because of their anxieties. This class will teach you games and activities that you and your dog can do at home, and in other safe environments, to build confidence and provide mental and physical stimulation. Dogs will learn hand targeting and matwork exercises that will provide a strong foundation for future obedience classes. You'll also learn simple massage and relaxation techniques to reduce the stress that shy dogs experience.
This class will also focus on simply providing the bonding time that you and your shy dog deserve. The classroom ambiance is not typical of a training class; every effort will be made to provide a supportive, calm and comforting environment to ease anxiety.
Note: This class is not suitable for dogs who have shown aggression or reactivity towards people or dogs, including barking, lunging, or having a history of having bitten previously. If you are not sure if this class is appropriate for your dog, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 415-522-3509 before registering.
For dogs who may find the classroom environment overwhelming, we are also offering a limited number of auditing spaces for guardians who wish to learn these calming techniques and apply them in the comfort of their own home.
