On March 2, some of the best looking, best dressed pooches in San Francisco, accompanied by their equally fashionable humans, danced the night away at the social event of the year. The 11th Annual Bark & Whine Ball was a night for dog lovers and the object of their affections to woof it up with frisky abandon!
The Bark & Whine Ball is hosted by CLAW, Critter Lovers At Work, an amazing, all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the San Francisco SPCA. All proceeds from the Ball benefit The SF/SPCA's Cinderella Fund, which transforms the lives of the neediest animals that arrive at our shelter - those that are not only homeless, but also sick and injured.
The 2006 Bark & Whine Ball attracted over 600 two-legged guests and a record 280 four-legged party animals to the San Francisco Gift Center venue. The Ball featured a delectable buffet dinner by McCalls, and Dick Bright's Orchestra kept toes and paws tapping.
A fabulous Silent Auction featured bid items and packages for every taste - from art to wine to weekend getaways to an elegant cruise. By the end of the night, thousands of dollars had been raised to support The SF/SPCA's lifesaving work.
The SF/SPCA applauds the tireless efforts of the volunteers at CLAW for another unique evening of human/canine togetherness. We also express our gratitude to all the big-hearted organizations that supported the event by donating items and services to the Silent Auction. After the Ball was over, Chair Miriam Chall hailed it as "…a magical evening. The success of the 2006 Bark & Whine Ball will ensure happy endings for many of the homeless dogs and cats that so desperately need our help."
