Food Drive for the Companion Animals of Homeless People

During April and early May, The SF/SPCA is holding its annual Pet Food Drive for the Pets of Homeless People. The Drive begins on Tuesday, April 1 and ends on Saturday, May 10. Pet food collection bins have been placed in three sites at The SF/SPCA - Maddie's lobby, the Spay/Neuter Clinic lobby and the Hospital lobby.  Staff, volunteers and members of the public are asked to bring donations of new and unopened dog and cat food (no glass containers, please) to any of these sites. The food will be given to the Haight-Ashbury Food Program and Vet-SOS, organizations which both work with the homeless and their companion animals.

Alumni Photo Contest

SF/SPCA Alumni Animals

Did you adopt your pride and joy from The SF/SPCA?  Enter her or him in our SF/SPCA Alumni Photo Contest. Winner’s photographs will appear in adoption promotion materials, and on our new web site.

Send high-resolution digital images to Photocontest@sfspca.org, or mail images on a CD to: SF/SPCA Alumni Photo Contest, 2500 16th Street, San Francisco, CA 94103.

Include your animals name, age, date of adoption (estimated) along with your name, address, daytime phone number and email address on each entry.

Entries must be postmarked or emailed by May 31, 2008.

Entries become the property of The SF/SPCA, and will not be returned.  The SF/SPCA may use submitted photographs for any purpose.

Nickels for Non-Profits

The San Francisco SPCA has been selected to be part of the Potrero Hill Whole Foods Market's Nickels for Non-Profits Program. Potrero Hill's Whole Foods Market chooses three non-profit organizations every quarter to be part of this program: when customers bring in their own bags for groceries to the 17th & Rhode Island Street Whole Food Market they have the option of receiving a five cent credit (per bag); alternatively, they can donate the five cents to one of the selected non-profit organization. The SF/SPCA period of time as a selected non-profit is from April 14 - July 6, 2008. If you shop at the Potrero Hill Whole Foods Market and use your own bags, please consider donating your nickels to help the shelter animals at The SF/SPCA.
