- About Us
This repeating class is broad in scope and designed to advance the scent discrimination and handling skills taught in the previous terms. Dogs in this class will be working exclusively on the target odor. We will be working on the elements used in trial (containers, vehicles, exteriors, interiors), though competition is not the goal or requirement. This class is often repeated and the students advance together. This is an appropriate class for teams already working on Birch Odor, who would like the opportunity to work in a new environment.
Frequency & Duration: 1.5 hours per week for 6 weeks
Class includes: Certificate of Completion
Fees: $180 ($160 if your dog has taken a previous SF SPCA class in the past year)
Class capacity: 6 students
Location: 243 Alabama Street
Course prerequisites: Completion of an Introduction to Odor class and Instructor approval. Dogs in this class must be capable of quietly handling confinement crated away from their handlers or in a properly equipped vehicle. Dogs should be at least 5 months old. Students must also fill out the Online K9 Nose Work Questionnaire prior to class.
