Behavioral Wellness for
Dogs and Cats
With Suzanne Hetts, PhD & Daniel Estep, PhD
Certified Applied Animal Behaviorists
September 27 & 28, 2008
Saturday & Sunday (or Saturday Only)
9 AM – 5 PM
How would you define a behaviorally healthy dog or cat?
Behavioral health involves much more than reliable response to commands.
This unique workshop presents the defining characteristics of behaviorally healthy dogs and cats.
Drs. Hetts and Estep explain the steps every pet guardian and pet professional can use to optimize their pet’s behavioral health.
Professionals will learn how to bridge the gap between training and resolving behavior problems. These include regular behavioral checkups to help people recognize warning signs of impending problems that may otherwise go ignored, and classes to help people prepare their animals for lifestyle changes that typically put pets at risk. Drs. Hetts and Estep will also discuss how puppy and kitten classes – including a new class model, can be part of a behavior wellness program. CEUs pending.
About the Speakers:
Drs. Hetts and Estep are both experienced, accomplished, award winning speakers who have lectured both nationally and internationally on animal behavior issues to a variety of professional and lay groups. Dr. Hetts was the recipient of American Humane Association’s “K.C. Award” for outstanding faculty. The University of Georgia’s Chapter of PsiChi (the national honor society in psychology) chose Dr. Estep for its Undergraduate Teaching Award for three years. Dr. Hetts received her Ph.D. in Zoology with a specialization in animal behavior from CSU and is certified as an applied animal behaviorist. With her husband Dr. Dan Estep, Suzanne co-owns Animal Behavior Associates, Inc. an animal behavior consulting firm in Littleton, Colorado.
